Letter to Cousin

Dear Cousin Stan,

Last week we were talking about my Public Relations major at Utah State University and I know you had questions that we didn’t have time to talk about. So I decided to write you a letter in hopes that it clarifies and sheds a little light on public relations.

Public Relations to me help bridge that gap between the normal every day person and organizations and corporations. A lot of the writing used in public relations takes the effect of press releases. Press releases are kind of like a memo that companies send out to radio, television, newspapers, magazines, etc that give information about a new product, people doing something out of the ordinary, or anything else that they figure people would like to know. Like when I was a work last week and got the fax saying that Linkin Park was coming so we decided to get tickets. They also use press releases to release financial earnings every so often.

Lots of companies have public relations teams that work with marketing, human resources, and customer service areas. There are also companies that are referred to as agencies that do public relations with large companies that give them a contract to help them out.

As you could tell when we talked, I’m very excited to be a public relations major at USU. The classes have been very fun, extremely educational, and has really made going to college worth it. Hope this helps you out with some of your confusion. I’ll see you in a few weeks at the family party.

I think in a Professional letter you need to put your name and address at the top kind of like a memo, Overall you did well at informing what Pr is and what you will be doing and why

Good work

I think you did a really good job explaining what PR is and kept it personal and informative and proffessional at the same time. You could probably make a little more use of comas and some other things, but other than that I thought you did great!
